Good Mornin’

Monday morning and life is good.  House is empty of family, dog is outside, I’m alone.

Fill a cup with water, cup has PAPA printed on it. Put it in the microwave for a couple of minutes, that makes it hot enough.

Two pieces of bread, store bought and sliced, dropped into the toaster. Will toast to a golden hue.

Remove lid from off the butter dish and find it empty.

Ding! Water is hot. Remove from microwave.

Pop! Toast is up, put on plate.

Where’s the butter? Several sticks in side the refrigerator door. I get one out and it is hard. Quickly unwrap it and using a dull butter knife carefully skin a thin layer from the top.

Toast is now cold, hard and crunchy!

Cautiously placing the curling slivers of yellow butter on the cold toast I expect the butter to melt and all to be well. Disappointed!

I tear open a foil pouch and get tea bag dropped into lukewarm water and it doesn’t even sink.

Carry breakfast to my spot at the table and eat cold butter on cold toast and drink cold watered down tea.

It’s going to be a great day!
